Member Agency Employment
The most common way to acquire certification is through member agency employment. To do this you must be hired by a law enforcement agency that is a member of this Academy. That agency pays your tuition and fees to attend the Academy. After the successful completion of our 16 week Basic Law, 11 week Basic Jail, 1.5 week Basic Dispatch, or 84 hour Basic Animal Control class, you will return to your agency as a certified officer.
Sponsorship
Another avenue to take to receive certification is through sponsorship. A law enforcement agency that is a member of this Academy can pay your tuition and fees for you to attend the Academy without the guarantee of employment afterwards. To be eligible for sponsorship you must be a part time officer or reserve/auxiliary officer of that agency for at least one year. After successful completion of our 16 week Basic Law, 11 week Basic Jail, 1.5 week Basic Dispatch, or 84 hour Basic Animal Control class you will be a certified officer.
Pre-Employment
The final manner in which one can acquire certification is by paying to attend the Academy on their own ( out of pocket). The applicant must successfully complete an application process and background investigation. There is no guarantee that you will be selected to attend the Academy by submitting your application. For more information, please visit the Pre-Employment link on the left side of this website.
Note: Pre-Employment does not apply to Basic Animal Control.
